Outcomes and methodology

We publish outcome information to explain how care is evaluated, not to promise a particular result. Individual experiences and outcomes vary.

Current reporting status

TherapyHelps is completing clinical and data-owner verification of the reporting period, data cutoff, eligibility criteria, and calculation records for its public outcome statistics. A statistic is retained on the site only when it can be substantiated; otherwise it is removed or narrowed.

The public figures shown on our homepage are reported outcomes, not a guarantee of treatment effectiveness or a substitute for clinical advice.

How outcome reporting is intended to work

We use validated self-report measures, including PHQ-9 and GAD-7, to help clients and clinicians monitor changes over time. Outcome reporting compares eligible baseline and follow-up assessments. The definition of clinically significant improvement, the threshold for “after 3+ sessions,” and the averaging method for PHQ-9 and GAD-7 must be documented with each approved reporting period.

What the published methodology will include

  • Reporting period, data cutoff, and accountable clinical and data owners.
  • Eligible-client criteria and completed-assessment requirements.
  • Formulas for clinically significant improvement, PHQ-9 and GAD-7 change, and the session-completion denominator.
  • Missing follow-up handling, exclusions, consent and anonymisation safeguards, and the calculation and refresh process for every reported figure.
  • Limitations, including why group-level findings do not predict an individual outcome.

Important limitations

Questionnaire scores are one input into care and do not diagnose a condition or replace a professional assessment. TherapyHelps does not provide emergency or crisis monitoring. If you are in immediate danger or considering self-harm, contact local emergency services or a crisis service right away.
